Dubai Airports IPO Would Likely Succeed, CEO Says

🔹 What Is It About
Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths told The National an initial public offering of the operator behind the world’s busiest international hub would likely attract strong global investor interest. While stressing that the decision rests with the government, Griffiths said airports are highly appealing investment assets, citing global examples like London Heathrow that have drawn major institutional investors including Qatar’s and Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth funds.
🔹 Why It Matters
Dubai’s aviation sector is a cornerstone of its economy, projected to contribute Dh196 billion ($53.36 billion) to GDP and support 816,000 jobs by 2030. The strong performance of Emirates, flydubai, and Dubai Airports underscores the emirate’s position as a global aviation hub, bolstering investor confidence in any potential listing.
🔹 What’s Next
Dubai is building a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), a Dh128 billion project that will fully replace Dubai International Airport by 2035. Once completed, it will be the world’s largest airport with a capacity of 260 million passengers, positioning Dubai for its next phase of aviation-led growth.

Amazon Expands Ultra-Fast ‘Amazon Now’ Delivery Service Across UAE, Promising Essentials In 15 Minutes

🔹 What Is It About
Amazon has launched its fastest delivery service yet, Amazon Now, across the UAE, offering everyday essentials delivered in as little as 15 minutes. Supported by tech-enabled micro fulfillment centers, the service brings products closer to customers while easing congestion and reducing delivery times. The company also introduced a new 2-hour delivery option covering over 30 categories, with both services now available across most major UAE areas.
🔹 Why It Matters
The launch underscores Amazon’s growing investment in speed, convenience, and localization in one of the Middle East’s most competitive e-commerce markets. The ultra-fast service has already fueled a 40% month-on-month increase in daily orders, with Prime members doubling their shopping frequency. Amazon’s push reflects the UAE’s rapidly evolving retail landscape and consumers’ rising expectations for instant, reliable service.
🔹 What’s Next
Amazon plans to expand Amazon Now and the 2-hour delivery service to more UAE locations in the coming months, reinforcing its dominance in regional e-commerce. The company’s localized fulfillment network and advanced inventory systems will continue to power its goal of making near-instant delivery the new standard for everyday essentials across the country.
Turkey Seeks To Buy 24 Used Eurofighter Jets From Qatar During Erdogan’s Gulf Visit

🔹 What Is It About
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Qatar this week to discuss a potential deal to acquire 24 used Eurofighter Typhoon jets as part of Ankara’s plan to modernize its air force. The UK, a member of the Eurofighter consortium, is mediating the talks for the transfer, which also includes Turkey’s request to buy 16 new Tranche 4 jets in a multibillion-dollar package still under negotiation.
🔹 Why It Matters
The deal would mark Turkey’s first major acquisition of non-US fighter jets, signaling a shift toward deepening defense cooperation with Europe. With new F-16 deliveries potentially delayed until 2030, the Eurofighters could help Ankara maintain air superiority as NATO members ramp up defense spending amid rising geopolitical tensions with Russia.
🔹 What’s Next
Erdogan’s Doha visit, part of a wider Gulf tour including Kuwait and Oman, could accelerate final talks on the purchase. Turkey hopes to begin receiving Eurofighters as early as next year, following Germany’s recent decision to lift objections to the sale and strengthen defense collaboration with its NATO ally.
