Emirati Businessman Mohamed Alabbar Joins Syrian Housing Launch and Explores Regional Investment

🔹 What Is It About

Emirati businessman Mohamed Alabbar attended the official launch of the Al-Nahda housing project in southern Idlib alongside Syrian government ministers and local officials. Spanning 340 dunums, the project will feature 51 residential towers containing 3,000 apartments, split into 2,000 affordable units and 1,000 investment units to house 15,000 residents over a five-year construction timeline. Following the ceremony, Alabbar traveled to Aleppo to hold discussions with housing officials and regional governors regarding private-sector investment in housing, commercial real estate, and tourism infrastructure.

  • Attending Housing Launch: Mohamed Alabbar joined Syrian public works officials at the inauguration of the 3,000-unit Al-Nahda project.

  • Structuring Hybrid Financing: The development allocates one-third of units for investment sales to subsidize two-thirds designated for affordable housing.

  • Exploring Aleppo Investments: Alabbar met local officials in Aleppo to evaluate real estate and tourism projects.

🔹 Why It Matters

Participation by prominent Gulf business leaders like Mohamed Alabbar signals growing private-sector interest in rebuilding housing and commercial infrastructure. Adopting hybrid financing models allows state housing agencies to construct affordable units using revenue generated from commercial property sales. Expanding real estate investments beyond primary metropolitan centers supports economic recovery across regional provinces.

  • Attracting Foreign Capital: Executive involvement encourages private investment in regional housing initiatives.

🔹 What’s Next

Engineers at the General Housing Establishment will begin site preparation and utility connections across the 340-dunum Al-Nahda parcel. Alabbar’s investment team will evaluate technical surveys in Aleppo before submitting formal project proposals to local municipal authorities.

  • Breaking Ground in Idlib: Construction crews will initiate foundation work on the 51 residential towers.

Qatar Launches Startup Program Offering Incentives Up to $5.5M

🔹 What Is It About

Backed by Qatar Development Bank, Qatar launched an investment incentive program offering foreign and local startups funding packages worth up to $5.5M. Early-stage startups with a minimum viable product can access up to $1.1M in equity and grant funding, while scaling companies can receive up to $5.5M. The initiative includes flexible founder visas, licensing fee waivers, housing subsidies, co-working spaces, and direct access to research grants across target sectors including artificial intelligence, fintech, healthtech, cybersecurity, and robotics.

  • Funding Startup Expansion: Early-stage firms can secure $1.1M, while scaling businesses can access up to $5.5M.

  • Waiving Operational Fees: Participating companies receive licensing exemptions, visa support, and housing subsidies.

  • Targeting Deep Tech: Funding priorities focus on artificial intelligence, SaaS, fintech, cybersecurity, and robotics.

🔹 Why It Matters

Offering multi-million-dollar capital grants combined with administrative fee waivers helps Qatar compete against neighboring Gulf hubs for technology talent and corporate headquarters. Subsidizing housing and office expenses lowers operational overhead for foreign founders relocating their development teams to the country. Directing non-dilutive funding into artificial intelligence and robotics helps expand local non-oil software and technology sectors.

  • Lowering Setup Costs: Providing fee waivers and housing subsidies reduces early operational expenses for tech founders.

  • Growing Local Software: Capital grants build technical capability across local artificial intelligence and fintech sectors.

🔹 What’s Next

Qatar Development Bank will open online application portals for international and local startup founders. Review committees will evaluate incoming proposals and issue initial funding allocations to approved technology companies.

  • Opening Application Portals: QDB will process funding submissions from regional and international founders.

  • Allocating Grant Packages: Evaluation panels will approve initial capital grants and issue entrepreneur visas to selected teams.

Alstom Secures €460M Order to Supply Driverless Trains for Riyadh Metro Expansion

🔹 What Is It About

French rail manufacturer Alstom signed a €460M ($516M) contract with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) to supply additional driverless metro trains for Lines 3, 4, and 6 of the Riyadh Metro. The new rolling stock will integrate into the capital's active transport network, expanding passenger capacity and increasing service frequency. Alstom will maintain the new fleet under its existing operations and maintenance contract, with order booking scheduled for the second quarter of its 2026/27 financial year.

  • Signing €460M Contract: Alstom agreed to supply additional driverless trainsets to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City.

  • Expanding Active Lines: New vehicles will serve Line 3 (Orange), Line 4 (Yellow), and Line 6 (Purple).

  • Maintaining Fleet Assets: The vehicles will be serviced under Alstom's active operations and maintenance contract.

🔹 Why It Matters

Expanding rolling stock fleets allows the Riyadh Metro to increase train frequencies as daily passenger traffic surpasses 100 million trips since its late 2024 launch. The contract aligns with French state-backed export financing frameworks, including credit lines provided by Bpifrance Assurance Export to finance Saudi infrastructure projects. Upgrading urban rail capacity supports Riyadh's preparation for major international events, including Expo 2030 and the 2034 World Cup.

🔹 What’s Next

Alstom manufacturing plants in Europe will begin assembly of the driverless trainsets ahead of scheduled shipment runs to Saudi Arabia. RCRC transit directors will update passenger schedules to integrate the new rolling stock into daily network operations.

  • Starting Train Assembly: Production teams will manufacture the driverless vehicles to match Riyadh Metro specifications.

Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.
